ALL ABOUT MARIAM ABGARIAN

MARIAM ABGARIAN was born in Lipetsk, Russia in 1994. Mariam studied at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory with professors Vera Gornostaeva and Sergey Dorensky. While studying in Moscow, Mariam took classes with the following professors and concert pianists, Nikolay Lugansky, Andrey Pisarev and Pavel Nersessian. Now, Mariam is continuing her postgraduate education under Jon Nakamatsu’s supervision at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Her experience as a concert pianist started at the age of five. Mariam is a Laureate of numerous international competitions, some of which include: International Piano Igumnov Competition Russia, International Competition “Teacher and student” Moscow, International Competition «Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte» Czech Republic, International competition of musicians, Tolyatti, International competition «Musica classica» Moscow, Rubinstein Competition for Chamber Ensembles, Moscow. Also, Mariam was one of five participants selected from Russia to perform at the Malta International Music Festival. Mariam was the only pianist who received a scholarship from the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) international foundation for the Musical Armenian Program to perform multiply recitals in Armenia and Artsakh. In addition, she received a full scholarship in order to perform in Italy, “Musicfest Perugia,” which is held every year in July.

On a yearly basis, Mariam was invited to the “Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra Artists Concert” project in Moscow and had concerts in the Bolshoi Theater’s halls with a different repertoire. She's also had concerts in the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and Chamber Hall of Philharmonic. 

For many years Mariam was a participant in the International Charity Foundation program created by Vladimir Spivakov and she played many concerts under the foundation abroad. Moreover, Mariam participated in the international music festival, "Crescendo,” held under the auspices of Denis Matsuev.

Mariam was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to meet, work and participate in master-classes with leading pianists, such as Luiz de Moura Castro (USA), Naum Shtarkman (Moscow), Boaz Sharon (USA), Sergei Milstein (Switzerland), Maria Gambarian (Russia-Armenia), Galina Minsker (St. Petersburg), Atanas Kurtev (Bulgaria), Albert Sassmann (Austria) and Willem Brons (Netherlands).

Mariam Abgarian is a constant invited guest of International Festival-Competition in the Ruza House of Composers in Russia, International Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio-UAX in Spain, and International Brons Festival in the Netherlands.
